Resilience and Reintegration Unit
Mission
To provides social assistance services inclusive of emergency temporary accommodation to those persons who are impacted and displaced by various disaster and emergency situations such as house fires, family disputes and weather events.
Overview
The Resilience and Reintegration Unit plays a critical role in ensuring that the social response to households (families and individuals) who fall victim to either disaster and emergency situations is timely and that they do not find themselves trapped in a vicious cycle of poverty and helplessness.
Objectives
To advocate for the rights of marginalized and vulnerable groups in the mitigation of idiosyncratic shocks (persons who are impacted and displaced by various disaster and emergency situations such as house fires, family disputes and weather events. This relates to access to goods and services e.g. accessing benefits (NIS, Welfare etc.).
Negotiate and leverage support for goods and services for those affected by and recovering from shocks.
Conduct social assessments (new and periodic) for persons impacted by idiosyncratic and covariate shocks and make recommendations for basic social assistance to the appropriate social welfare agencies.
Liaise with housing agents and the Ministry of Housing, Lands and Maintenance to secure suitable temporary housing accommodation for persons in need.
Continuously update the Vulnerable Persons List to ensure that no one is left behind
Operationalize a dedicated after-hours response.
Assist in guiding the work of the National Task Force on Homelessness.
